Leak Detection Systems

  The SM Cap Welding Process

These specific machines are developed and used for the welding of plastic caps on moulded plastic containers. Their main application field is to join infusion caps onto infusion containers, produced on the bottelpack Blow-Fill-Seal machines.

Different cap versions had been designed by various cap manufacturers in cooperation with our clients and us. To ensure reliable welding between cap and container, the plastic containers are designed with a neck ring.

All welding processes are identical for all systems. They consist of the following processing sequences:

  • cap and container feeding
  • positioning of heater plate on container head and caps on heater plate
  • plasticizing of container head and welding of cap
  • lifting of caps and removal of heater plate
  • contact welding between cap and container
  • automatic container discharge

In order to meet the different customers' requirements, rommelag® offers Semi-automatic system and fully automatic systems:

Semi-automatic system: the operator loads bottles and caps into the holding device of the welding unit, then starts the welding cycle. These semi-automatic machines are usually operated as separate units.

Fully automatic systems: these units are usually installed in-line with the bottelpack® machines. The bottles, produced on the bottelpack® machine, are automatically fed to the welding station. A sorting bowl for intermediate cap storing and a loading system feed the infusion caps automatically to the welding station.

Both types of welding machines have automatic bottle discharge systems on conveyor belts.

We provide an integrated and in-line tested production system to customers who require a combination of bottelpack® and welding machine. This solves possible interface problems.

Production of welding equipment is also supported by our quality control management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 standard.
